Audition Notice for Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (A2CT) is seeking energetic actors aged 18+ for DRACULA: A COMEDY OF TERRORS, written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen.

Callback Date: August 28, 7-9pm
Rehearsals Begin: September 2, 2025
Performances: October 24-26 and October 31-November 2
The Play: When her sister Mina falls mysteriously ill, Lucy and her fiancé Jonathan enlist the help of the famed vampire hunter Doctor Van Helsing. Their hunt for the dangerous and sexy Count Dracula will force them to confront their greatest fears - and deepest desires - while navigating clever wordplay and life-threatening puns.
What We’re Looking For: Actors aged 18+ and of any race, gender, body type, and experience level are encouraged to audition. Please note that this play sends up gender norms, and performers need to be willing to play genders other than their own. The play calls for 5 performers, which may be expanded at the director’s discretion.
Audition Material: Auditions will consist of a reading from the script. The reading does not need to be memorized. Paper copies will be available at auditions. Callbacks will include further readings, as well as improv exercises.

Video Auditions: Video auditions will be accepted until August 26 at 8:00pm. Videos submitted after that time may not be considered. Please email videos to mr.egibney@gmail.com with the words “DRACULA AUDITION” in the subject line. Note that callbacks will require in-person attendance.
Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals will be held Monday-Thursday, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, at the A2CT Studio space. Due to the nature of the show, actors should be prepared to be called most nights.
Please Note: Actors performing with A2CT are required to pay a $50 membership fee.
Character Breakdown:
Dracula. Magnetically sexy, Dracula is a narcissist whose greatest love is himself. He falls in love with Lucy, and the less she wants him the more he needs her.
Jonathan Harker. A prim and proper embodiment of anxiety, Harker is afraid of his own shadow. Once bitten, he loosens up…a lot.
Lucy Westfeldt. Brilliant and plucky, Lucy is often underestimated. She is engaged to Jonathan, but when Dracula comes around, she grows curious about his strange ways.
Mina Westfeldt. Mina lives in her sister Lucy’s shadow. She is desperate for attention and immediately drawn to Dracula’s charms.
Dr. Wallace Westfeldt. A blowhard and self-important misogynist given to proclamations and posturing. A recent widower, he spends his time caring for the criminally insane.
Dr. Van Helsing. A brilliant and sturdy vampire hunter from Germany. She is a deadly serious woman of action.
Renfield. A patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs.
Kitty. A patient of Dr. Westfeldt who serves as a maid in his house.
Three suitors. Lords Cavendish, Worthington and Havemercy are all disappointed that Lucy has become engaged to Jonathan.
Driver. A carriage driver who tries to warn Jonathan of the dangers of Dracula’s castle.
Captain. The captain of a doomed ship.
Bosun. A seaman who goes down with his ship.
Gravedigger. A drunk gravedigger.
