Stage Acting Basics
Discover the actor within you at Ann Arbor Civic Theatre’s engaging acting workshop! Perfect for adult students preparing for roles in community theatre, this class introduces the essentials of scene analysis, character development, and proven memorization techniques to help you shine on stage. Taught by Education Chair Bruce Morey, the workshop uses Meisner techniques thoughtfully adapted for community theatre and amateur productions, providing a supportive and practical learning environment. Whether you’re new to acting or looking to deepen your skills, this class will give you the tools and confidence you need to bring your next role to life.
Sundays Nov 9, 16 and 23 from 3-5:30 pm

Cost: $75/person for members, $93.75/person for non-members
Location: A2CT’s Studio 322 W. Ann St. Ann Arbor, MI
Classes will be capped to 12 participants, ages 18 or older.
Bruce Morey Bio
Bruce Morey is currently the Education Chair at Ann Arbor Civic Theatre and is a theatre artist who has performed with the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare in the Arb, and Thurston Players as well as student production films. In addition to his acting roles, he has also directed productions for both Ann Arbor Civic Theatre and Thurston Players, bringing compelling stories to life for local audiences. Bruce has studied Meisner Acting extensively with Redbud Productions as well as film acting with the Actor’s Loft. He is a Designated Meisner Teacher (DMT) through his training with the Meisner Institute. His combination of acting experience and understanding of the Meisner technique gives him insight as an instructor, dedicated to helping actors of all levels grow in their craft.
