AADL/A2CT Project: Last Summer

The Ann Arbor District Library, in collaboration with Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, presents the one-act drama Last Summer, by Jim Ottaviani, directed by Cassie Mann. As a part of Ann Arbor’s bicentennial celebration, the AADL commissioned a short play about a real meeting that took place in the home of a U of M professor after a physics symposium in the summer of 1939. Nobel laureates in physics, Enrico Fermi and Werner Heisenberg, were hosted by physics professor Samuel Goudsmit in his home for what turned out to be a critical conversation about the future of nuclear weaponry on the eve of World War II. Last Summer features A2CT actors Chris Grimm, Greg Kovas, Trevor Maher, and Andrew Schairbaum.

Performances are Saturday, December 7th at 2pm and Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 at 6:30pm in the main floor Lobbytorium of the downtown branch of the AADL. Performances are free, and will be followed by a Q & A. For additional information, go to https://aadl.org/lastsummer.

A2CT Relocation News

We are writing to share significant news regarding the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre. We will be relocating by August 2025 following the announcement that our longtime home at 322 W. Ann Street has been put up for sale. Thanks to the efforts of Board President Suzi Peterson, we have secured a guaranteed space at 322 W. Ann Street until August 31, 2025, even if the property is sold before then.

This move marks a new chapter for A2CT, providing us with the opportunity to reimagine and redefine the future of our space.
