Preparation for Stage Series:
Using Relationships to Create an Actor’s Tool Box

One of the joys of acting is that, one-person shows aside, it is not a solitary endeavor. While there are many ways to prepare for a role, using relationships with scene partners is the emphasis in this day long workshop. Why go it alone when it can be so much better working together? This class will help provide some of the tools and tricks of doing so to the best advantage. 

Whether an experienced actor with many roles to your credit or a relative novice, our instructor with numerous professional acting and directing credits will guide the class using relationships as the foundation for preparation.

How to approach your time in the theatre/room.

Warming up your body and being ready to play.

Script analysis. This workshop will include 1 Shakespeare scene, 1 classic scene (Chekhov), and1 Modern scene.

A Review of memorization techniques.

What people need to bring:

Comfortable clothes to move in.

A water bottle.

Comfortable shoes.

Henry Ballesteros Bio

Henry is beyond excited to be working with the Ann Arbor Civic theatre. He attended Southern Utah University (B.F.A. in Classical Acting.) and he has had the pleasure of working with The Michigan Shakespeare Education Tour (MiSFITS), The Utah Shakespeare Festival (Twelfth Night 2014) and with the SimonFest Theatre Co. (2015-2019). Recently, Henry has worked with Shakespeare In Detroit (As You Like It). Henry has also had the pleasure of working with some of Michigan’s finest local theatre’s like The Open Book Theatre Co., The Penny Seats Theatre Company and Planet Ant. Directing credits include, Matilda, Arsenic and Old Lace, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and The Romans in Britain.
