Summer Dance Camp: Heroes & Villains

Join us for a week of dance and dive into the greatest heroes and villains of musical theatre! Explore character dynamics, dance styles and the staging needed to tell a riveting story on stage. Whether they are comedic characters or big personalities, we will discover heartwarming heroes, snarky mischief makers, and the strength that can be found when friends band together.

  • Audition Prep: Looking forward to auditioning for a future production? We will learn tips and tricks to audition with confidence!!

  • Your favorite shows: The Lion King, Hercules, Newsies, Wicked and more!

Each day will include dance technique classes, acting lab, dance/theatre games, creative character building, prop design hour and enough wiggle room to let our creativity take over!

There will be a 10-minute snack break and a half-hour lunch break. Please provide these meals/snacks for your child.

We will be so excited to invite you to our Friday Family Show at 2PM to showcase all that the dancers have created throughout the week. Let’s celebrate them!

This camp is perfect for the young performer who is interested in trying new styles of dance, expanding their storytelling skills and finding fellowship with other theatre-loving kids. Beginners welcome!

Jessie Wise Bio

About Jessie Wise: Ms. Wise was born and raised in Ann Arbor, and after a few years living and working abroad in New Zealand, is grateful to be back in this community. She brings over 15 years of experience as an educator and choreographer in the performing arts, including social dance, musical theatre, and therapeutic movement. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from Columbia College Chicago, she recently completed her Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy through Dance Therapy New Zealand. Throughout her career, she has choreographed more than 30 musicals and brings passion to creating joyful, inclusive spaces where every performer feels seen, supported, and encouraged to explore their creativity. As a Therapeutic Dance Practitioner, she places a strong emphasis on safe technique, development-appropriate movement, and multi-sensory, flexible teaching that meets each student where they are.
